Colonel Williard F Rockwell owned a mansion in Edgewood, a small
borough in the east end of the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The mansion was located in the 100 block of West Hutchinson Avenue
close to the mainline of the Pennsylvania Railroad and the Edgewood
train station, which was a typical location for mansions in the
period. He lived there, except for a period of about six months in
a nursing home prior to his passing, until his death in 1978 at the
age of 90. The mansion was demolished a few years after his death
to make way for a townhouse complex. His son, WFR Jr lived next
door in a more contemporary home, which is still standing.
