Chiapas, officially "Free and Sovereign State of Chiapas", is one of the thirty-one states along with the Federal District that comprises the 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. "Periodicos de Chiapas" is a period of time encompassing the Chiapas conflict during the Zapatista Uprising subsequent to the passing of North American Federal Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in 1994 which led to the cancellation of Article 27 of Mexico's constitution and happened to be the cornerstone of Emiliano Zapata's revolution of 1901-1919 that protected Indian communal landholdings from either sale or privatization.
