There are many great dogs for children and some that you should just stay away from.

The following breeds are the best breeds for children.

German Shepherd: best to get from a puppy, will protect the whole family and only attack things that threaten it.

Golden Retriever: They are medium sized dogs, unfortunately they shed like most dogs and they love participating in family games like chasy, hide and seek, throw and catch.

Labradors: Labradors are absolutely fantastic with children and adults. You would of seen Labradors as guide dogs or at nursing homes or hospitals, to give happiness to some. They are very active and would need a daily walk, or just playing fetch with the kids would be fine. They love to swim also.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels: These are little dogs, and are ideal for young children that aren't very active. They love to cuddle up to you and maybe play 5 minutes of fetch. They are great indoors and will always be there for a hugs and kisses.

Shih tzus are very relaxed and calm and love to play but not to hard.

Breeds to stay away from:

Bull Terriers

Mastiffs

Rottweiler

Bulldog

and any mixed with these breeds.

All these breeds are beautiful dogs but aren't suitable for young children, because they were bred for dog fights and sometimes if they arent treated well they would bite you and hurt you.

These breeds are best for 16yr old +

Good Luck
