Windburn is a common term for sunburn that has been accelerated by the effects of wind removing the UV-filtering thin layer of perspiration from the skin.[1] Although colloquially named '"wind"burn, scientists discovered that the condition is, in fact, the result of sun exposure[1], and not simply the result of exposure to wind.

The prevention of windburn and sunburn goes hand in hand, since windburn is simply sunburn intensified by the wind. Covering the skin, using sunscreen, and moisturizing are important prevention methods.
Aloe vera -based moisturizer may sooth the symptoms of windburn. Avoid scratching or rubbing the affected area too much.
