Xinhua is the official news agency of the government of the
People's Republic of China (PRC). It's name literally means "New
China News Agency".
Despite the fact that it is government controlled, it is
considered one of the key primary sources of information in China.
While its stories may be written in a flat, factual manner, its
10,000 or staff members mean that it is able to cover China's news
in much more depth than most news agencies.
Those readers looking for a independent news source or stories
with more opinion, should look at other news sources such as China
Post (published in Taiwan), South China Morning Post (published in
Hong Kong) or international internet news sites that use
journalists within China such as Asian Business Daily
