Moses is a God prophet assigned by God (same God worshiped in Islam, Christianity, and Judaism). Torah holy book was revealed to him by God. He is considered by Muslims as one of the five God greatest prophets; namely Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad (peace be upon them all).

Moses was a great-grandson of Jacob. One of Jacob's twelve sons was Levi. Levi's three sons were Kehath, Gershon and Merari. Kehath's sons were Amram, Yitzhar, Hebron and Uziel. And the children of Amram were Moses, Aaron and Miriam. The mother of Moses, Yocheved, was also from the Levite tribe.
