Zenas Leonard

(1809-1857)

1839Narrative of the Adventures of Zenas Leonard, Fur Trader. An account of an expedition to Utah, Nevada, and California, led by John Reddeford Walker for Captain Benjamin Eulalie de Bonneville, which Leonard, a fur trapper, had joined in 1833 as the official clerk. First published in serial form in the Clearfield Republican, the work remains an important source of information about the expedition, the life of trappers, and the people of Spanish California and the Upper Missouri.
