The starting center for the UCLA team that won the National Championship in 1995 was George Zidek. Zidek was from Zlin, Czech Republic. He and Ed O'Bannon were first round draft choices in the 1995 NBA draft. Zidek went to the Charlotte Hornets with the 22nd overall pick. He had a rather undistinguished NBA career, playing for three years with the Hornets, Nuggets, and Supersonics before retiring after the 1997-1998 season.
