The Zomi Revolutionary Organization (ZRO) was formed in 1993 and its armed wing, the Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA), was formed in 1997 following an escalation of ethnic violence between the Kukis and Paites in the Churachandpur district of Manipur.

Objective

The purported objective of the ZRO/ZRA is to protect the interests of the Paite community from the 'onslaught of any community or group'. It further attempts to bring all the Zomi people, divided by artificial State boundaries in various countries, specifically in Myanmar (Chin State), India (Manipur and Mizoram) and Bangladesh (Chittagong Hills Tracts), together under one administrative unit, a 'Zogam', which means 'land of the Zomi' under the Indian Union.

Zomi National Congress is political organization for the Zomi Chin Kuki Mizo people. ZNC believe in political solution by political means. It doesn't have an armed wing. ZNC and Mizoram's PC (People's Conference) and other representative from India, Burma and Bangladesh formed Zo Re-unification Organization (ZORO) in 1980s. ZORO has it's head office in Aizawl, Mizoram.

The vice president of ZNC in Burma is Pu Do Pau from Kalaymyo, who was born in Phaileng village in Teddim township. Pu Do Pau has Bachaler of Law degree from Mandalay University, he is a lawyer as well as a bussinessman. Pu Do Pau contested in the 1990 election witht he ZNC ticket in Kalaymyo constituent 2, but defeated by Pu Do Thawng of the popular NLD party lead by Aung San Suu Kyi.

ZNC in India is the co-founder of Zo Reunification Organization based in Aizawl, India. ZNC was founded in India in early 1960s. Pu T. Gougin and Pu Thangkhangin Ngaihte are the leaders of ZNC in India.
