There are ,i would say,3 alchemists considered to be of major importance.each are contributed with developing alchemical frameworks that cemented the foundations of the modern sciences ,philosophy,and spiritualism. Roger bacon (1214-1294) stresed a greater importance on experimentation rather than reasoning and authority.his works were of great importance to the countless number of alchemists throughout the following centuries. Zosimos of panopolis (300ad.) Is author of the oldest alchemical scripts and books.his was an era that presented alchemy as an esoteric and spiritual approach. The spiritual nature of alchemy would be symbolized as a religious regeneration of the human soul. Robert boyle ,finaly ,is credited with the transition towards a rational materialism.known as the father of modern chemistry,he ,using alchemical methods ,made discoverys that paved the way for the new elemental science of chemistry.

The earliest mention of soap is in the writings of Pliny the Elder, who died in 79 AD. Its manufacture and use for cleaning both the body and clothes is described by Galen and Zosimos of Panopolis. (see link below) It is not discussed much in ancient literature.
