check fan relay, fuses. jump power to fan. check freon level in a/c system.
Remove the wiring harness from the back of your 1999 Cadillac Escalade radiator fan motor. Remove the radiator fan motor retaining bolts. The radiator fan will come off.
Only if it doesn't come out, with it on.
The radiator fan sensor switch or the radiator fan motor are at fault (maybe even both). Wire the fan motor direct to see if it will run, if it does, replace the sensor switch. If the fan motor doesn't run, replace the fan motor before you buy a new sensor. If after replacing the fan motor, the fan still doesn't run, then replace the sensor.
Remove the wiring harness or the fan motor belt, depending on the year of your Chevy Cavalier. Remove the fan motor retaining bolts. The fan motor will come off.
Most likely either the switch or the motor is defective.
on the back end of the fan, bolted to the motor. radiator, radiator shroud and fan has to come off to take it off
check for power and ground at the fan plug, relay, and fuse
The thermostat is located right on the front of the engine block. It is not a normal thermostat like you see in most vehicles. It is actually the flange that the lower radiator hose slips on to. Drain your engine coolant, remove the clamp on the lower radiator hose going to to the motor. remove the two 10mm bolts from the radiator hose flange to the motor, and the entire assembly will come out. when you purchase a new thermostat, it will come already mounted in a new housing. Replace the gasket, place the new thermostat in the motor, and reinstall the bolts.
A radiator fan is designed to operate only when the coolant is very hot, and the motor is in danger of overheating. You do not have a problem unless the motor overheats after sitting still idling for prolonged periods of time.
There should be a vacuum hose that runs from the top of the engine down the front, by the radiator. It's where the two parts of the vacuum hose come together.
More than likely it's either a motor mount or transmission mount.
On my 2000 Intrpid with the 2.7 liter it is on the lower driver side of the motor. Just follow the lower radiator hose and you should come to it.
