I found a Victoria DEI Gratia coin1888 FID: Def: on back looks like four shields with three lions on two of them and a signal lion one and a harp on other what is it ? Front is very good condition, back has two spots where it was stuck to another piece of coin token and metal.
100
In circulated condition they are worth on average $16 to $20. 1889 Morgan dollars struck at Philadelphia are not rare dates.
1889 Victoria 'Jubilee Head' silver threepences were struck in 0.925 (92.5%)silver and 4,587,010 were struck that year. The coin in ordinary circulated condition is worth about 50p to £1. In mint condition it is worth about £20. Try not to confuse this coin with the Maundy Threepence which is very similar. The Maundy threepence coin has a more proof-like (mirror reflective) surface.
Please post a new question with the coin's denomination. Several US coins were made of silver in 1889 and all had a picture of Miss Liberty.
About 5-10 dollars
Please post a new question with the coin's denomination. Quarters, half dollars, and silver dollars from 1889 all fit your description.
If your coin actually is a Mint State 1889 Morgan dollar, typical MS coins are $50.00-$75.00 depending on grade.
Any copy is only worth the value of the metal it's made of. Unless it says something like "999 silver" somewhere on the copy it's probably just plated base metal.See the Related Question for values of genuine 1889 dollars.
Your 1889 "e pluribus unum coin" is actually a 1889 Morgan dollar, this series of silver dollars were made from 1878 to 1904 & 1921 at 5 different Mints. The 1889 date is very common and assuming the coin is circulated and has no mintmark retail values are $17.00-$26.00
If the "something" you refer to is a coin, it is probably a sterling silver Double Florin (4 Shillings) or a sterling silver Florin (2 Shillings). Both of these coins have what is known as the "Jubilee Bust" of Queen Victoria on the front. The Double Florin is 36mm in diameter, weighs 22.62 grams and has crowned cruciform shields on the reverse with sceptres in the diagonals. An 1889 Double Florin in fair to good condition might get anything from £12 to £20 GBP. The Florin is 29.5mm in diameter, weighs 11.3 grams and has the same design as the Double Florin on the reverse. An 1889 Florin in fair to good condition might get anything from £10 to £25 GBP. A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation based on inspection and positive identification of the coin.
It wouldn't say Victoria and be dated 1909 because Victoria died in 1901. Also the motto is on ALL British coins so it doesn't help ID anything. Please post a new question with the coin's date and denomination.
All of them are worth about $20.00 just for the silver, with out specific dates, mintmarks and a idea of the condition (grade) of the coins, it's the best I can do. Post new question with more info.
