In 1922 all Lincoln cents were struck at the Denver Mint, the coin should have a "D" mintmark under the date. Some of the coins are missing the mintmark because worn dies and over polishings caused the D not to strike up well or be completely missing from the coin. These coins have a much higher value than the regular 1922-D issue.
Many 1922-D Lincolns have had the mintmark removed, the coin should be seen for a accurate value.
They are worth 2 to 6 cents in circulated condition.
According to a 2014 coin price chart, there is no wheat penny that is worth $12,500. There is, however, a 1922 (no mint mark) wheat penny worth about $500 in circulated condition and $20,000 in mint condition. The highest price penny like this is a 1944 Steel penny that is worth $100,000 in mint condition and $4,000 in circulated condition.
I took a while researching and I found that a 1922 D wheat penny Un-circulated is worth about 75 $. Circulated but in very good condition (as in looks to never have been touched) is worth about 18 $ Then depending on condition it can be worth anything from 2 to 17 $.
It is very possible. Please take it to a certified coin collector to have it authenticated.
In 1922 the only Lincoln cent struck was a 1922-D, worn dies and over polishings caused the D not to strike up well or be completely missing from the coin and are highly valued

Errors that can be found on a wheat penny are doubled-die obverse, S over D, D over S and for 1922 pennies no D or a weak D. In 1922 pennies were only minted in Denver all other years they were minted in Philly(no mint mark) and Denver (D) along with San Fran(S) in select years.
The 1922 is the 2nd most valuable Lincoln cent and is worth over $500 even in circulated condition. However, if it's a 1922-D, that value drops to around $12 in worn condition and around $80 if uncirculated.
