could you please tell me the weight of a 1980 mercury 80hp 2 stroke outboard motor
An 80hp Mercury outboard, serial number OC136078, would be a 1989 year model.
it depends on the year. i have a 1978 80hp and it takes a champion copper marine plug. the part # is L78V
For the 80 hp Mercury, you may use any brand of gear oil that has been blended for use as an outboard motor gear lube. There are many brands available other than oem, and are specially formulated for outboard use.
If not using oil injection, the 80 hp Mercury outboard requires a 50:1 ratio, roughly one pint of 2 cycle oil to six gallons of fuel.
Depends on the year. The older ones weigh more, especially if it's older than 10 years. But a safe guess is around 275 lbs, give or take 10 lbs for the year.
I would think most any reputable Merc dealer should be happy to help you out. At last check, most parts are still available through Mercury Marine for your engine. However, should you not be able to find what you need, contact me, I'll try to help.
The maximum speed of the 1962 Sunbeam Rapier coupe 4cyl 80hp is 99.5 mph.
I just took my 1983 Mercury 80 hp Blue Band out yesterday on a 5 meter half cabin Australian Swift Craft. I kept it at approx 20 knots (backed off from full throttle which would be about 38 knots) for approx 80 minutes and used 27 Liters of Fuel. I was shocked that it used so much fuel.... was thinking sail boat. Or at least always cruising with the wind at my back. I noticed the huge difference in consumption coming back against the wind. It was my first time to measure fuel consumption. I'm still playing with cruising speeds.... Guess we are back to the sixties.
The maximum speed of the fiat 1500 4cyl 80HP 1962 is 90 miles per hour.
About 100 mph
Yes you can. You have to know 2 things about your boat: 1. Can you pull someone out of the water with your motor? ( for a 16 ft fiberglass boat you need at the very least 80hp, but a 120 does better) 2. Do you have a place to mount the tower and not have it rip out? There is a lot of pressure on that thing
