not 100% positive. sounds like an O2 sensor problem. an exaust leak can cause this.
White smoke = coolant entering the combustion chamber. Blue smoke = oil burning. Black smoke = overly rich fuel/air mixture.
Just pull the electrical connector on it. If you gas mileage goes down considerably it is working all right. It goes to rich mixture by default..
check your vacuum line's!
Black smoke is an indication of an overly rich fuel/air mixture.
Not if it hasn't been modified to do so. E 85 fuel systems are set up to give a more rich mixture since alcohol isn't as volatile as gasoline. components of your fuel system would be likely to deteriorate if E 85 was used.
The fuel/ air mixture is rich or the ignition is weak, either way the fuel is not burning completely

Black smoke indicates a rich fuel mixture (over fueling). This can be caused by many different problems.
Dead. But he was rich...
If it is blue smoke the rings or valve seals could be bad. If it is white smoke the head could have a bad gasket or have a crack. If it is black smoke the engine is running too rich.
