If it's leaking from the back of the water pump then most likely you should go ahead and replace it because its leaking from the weep hole which tells you basicly that your water pump is about to stop working its a way to warn you before your motor locks up
Exhause leak? Bad Muffler? Leaking or cracked exhaust manifold? Bad EGR valve?
rain water leak is caused by a bad windscreen seal
it could be a head gasket leaking, and running down the back of the motor. A compression test is the only way to be able to tell.
may be from the fuel pump access

The water pump on a 1989 Ford F150 5.0 liter is changed by removing the engine accessories, disconnecting the radiator hoses, and removing the retaining bolts. The pump is then pulled from the block, a new gasket put in place, and the new pump installed.

One reason a 1989 F-150 may not start is a bad battery.
