engine light comes on and off. when light is on it hesitates and transmission slips. what could cause that on a 93 F150
Could be low coolant level, faulty thermostat, or faulty temperature sensor. Check coolant first.
It's the block heater. I had the same problem.
Replace the coolant temp sensor
23-25 qts.
25.5 quarts
158 oz
To replace the water pump in a 1997 Ford F150 with a 4.6L engine, first, disconnect the negative battery cable and drain the coolant. Remove the serpentine belt, then detach the fan and water pump pulley. Unbolt the old water pump from the engine block, clean the mounting surface, and install the new pump with a new gasket. Finally, reassemble by reversing the steps, refill the coolant, and reconnect the battery.
Check the thermostat first - if it is not opening (stuck), coolant will not flow through the engine block and, therefore, will not flow thorugh the heater core. In any case, if the water pump or thermostat is faulty, the engine could overheat causing serious damage.
The coolant drain for a 1993 F150m is on the bottom edge of the radiator. It is on the passenger side, facing the engine.
Try flushing the coolant system out
in the block...
