Once everything is disconnected, gently pull the dashboard away from the frame to remove it completely.

To splice trailer wiring to the tail lights of a 1992 Volkswagen Cabriolet, first, locate the tail light harness and identify the appropriate wires for the brake lights, turn signals, and running lights. Use a wire stripper to expose a small section of each wire and then connect the trailer wiring using butt connectors or soldering for a secure connection. Check the alt. with a volt meter right at the alt. This way wiring will not be the problem. If no charge, replace the alt.
You might want to check the switches. i had the same problem, If any switches actually work still you can just exchange a working one for the non working ones to see if motor actually works. If window motor still wont engage it could be o motor problem or wiring.
