The Paseo uses struts in the front as well as the rear.
To change the struts on a 1992 Toyota Paseo, first, safely elevate the vehicle and remove the front wheels. Unbolt the strut assembly from the top mount inside the engine bay and the lower control arm. Replace the old strut with a new one, reattach all bolts, and ensure everything is tightened to the manufacturer's specifications. Finally, reinstall the wheels and perform a wheel alignment.
front
It has 4 struts. The front uses a regular strut assembly. The rear struts have replaceable cartridges.
I believe they should be struts, not shocks. The only difference is where the bracket is for the brake line, the strut itself is the same.
The 92' Miata, (also known as a MX-5), has a Strut Assembly in the rear suspension. It consist of a Shock, Coil Spring, and a Strut Mount.
You can't. The springs around them need to be removed with a spring compressor and put back on the new struts with the spring compressor if the springs are still good. These springs are under very high tension and if you try to do it yourself you'll get a strut right through your skull! The rear shocks are easy, but for struts, take it to a professional, then it will be aligned properly too.
All Toyota Camry's have struts in the front. This is also accompanied with strut mounts and bearings that are located between the mount & strut. I highly recommend replacing the mounts & strut bearings with the struts. My experience has shown that the mounts fail before the strut.
