low fluid, bad thermostat, cooling fans are not coming on,bad water pump
What is the engine doing? Does it crank over? Does click?
Defective voltage regulator. It may be built into the alternator.
because the diesel pump needs to prime it self before it will start
No. The curb weight on the burb, is well over the 1000 lbs, your car is designed to pull.
It could be your Fuel pump or your Fuel filter might be clog. If that is not the problem check your Distributor to see if it's firing correctly. The engine needs fuel, compression and spark to run, your missing one of those.
I would start by changing the thermostat. They go out, often, or have a tenacy to stick, and are cheap.
This depends on the year and generation of Caprice as well as specific accessory options. Around 1971 the Chevy Caprice weighed about 4,000 pounds, while in 1976 it weighed about 4,300 pounds. Various years had similar weight, however in the early 80s an effort was made to reduce weight. I own a 1985 Caprice Classic and it weighs over 4,500 pounds -- it has a V8 engine and several options that add weight to it. In 1991 the style and engineering of the Caprice changed a great deal. The cars were lighter -- overall about 4,000 pounds. The Chevy Caprice Wagons generally weighed more than sedans and coupes.
The 1993 Chevy Caprice equipped with the 5.0-liter V8 engine produces approximately 170 horsepower. This engine is part of the broader family of small-block V8s that Chevy has used in various models over the years. The performance figures may vary slightly depending on specific configurations and emissions equipment.
put on ac in car and over heats
most likely a fuel delivery problem. i use carb cleaner to spray a little down the throttle body (where the carb used to ve) and see if it starts. if so then you probably need a fuel pump.
If you mean the starter will not turn over the engine, check the battery. vbd
Impossible to see from my house, but you'll need to start by finding out if you have spark, fuel, and air. And if it's happening at the right time.
