1996 Acura RL how to change console lights?
Reading a book
You use the plural of lights. If more than one is out it is probably not the bulb(s). Check the fuse first. Also check to see if the light is out on the selector quadrant on the console and the drivers front power window switch. If these lights are out as well, a fuse is the likely culprit, or a defective light switch.
the 1996 Acura RL does not have a distributor, nor does it have any plug wires, it does however have 6 coils and 6 spark plugs. You will have to remove each coil in order to change the spark plug underneath it. But it's easy, just two bolts per coil. Don't strip the aluminum heads or you will be paying for it big time!
I own a 1997 Isuzu Rodeo and had the same problem. I went to a local Isuzu new-car dealer and was quoted a price in excess of $100 to replace the burned-out dashboard lights. I was told that the cost is high because the top of the dashboard has to be removed in order to obtain access to the lights. I did not have the lights replaced. carlpers
You are in luck, I just finished doing that this afternoon. You must remove the entire upper console. Theere is one screw in the from, right above the rear mirror assembly. Once you remove that, simply slide the entire console forward until it releases. There will be one red electrical connection that will need to be disconnected. Turn the console over and remove the map light assembly, remove lense and change bulb.
