My guess would be that you have a leak in the system and are low of refrigerant. Have the leak repaired and the system recharged by a professional.

An Accord will run without a thermostat. But, it will not operate properly. The heat, fuel/air mixture, even the mileage depend on the thermostat keeping the engine in the correct temperature range.
More than likely R12 but the 1994 Honda Accord can have either R12 or R134. Look on the A/C condenser or evaporator for a label listed the refrigerant.

Yes One is called a "Radiator fan" and the other a "Condenser fan." The Radiator fan comes on when the engine coolant temperature is above 106C (223F). The Condenser fan comes on when you activate the Air Conditioning.
