If when it dies, the power windows do not work but all other electrical systems work, take a hard look at the ground under the driver's floor mat. The fuel pump shares this ground with the power windows. This is a fairly common problem on this vehicle. Hope this helps.
It's probably a broken engine mount. I have an 04 Alero and mine was broken. Jerking stopped when I replaced it.

Check to see if the whine is coming at all times, or only when driving. Typically the whine is from the differential. Fluids should be checked and replaced. If it continues to whine, have it inspected by a mechanic.

I have a 2005 Nissan altima and it use to do that until I replaced the crankshaft and camshaft sensors, have not had that problem since. The crankshaft sensor is real easy to replace. The camshaft is a little more difficult but can be done, I would recommend you trying it yourself. The sensors I got from autozone and paid about $35 a piece and safe a lot in labor charges.
Its the turning force from the crankshaft, which ends up as a linear force at the driving wheels.
