Do the forward gears work? Is the transfer case in Neutral? How about the fluid level? Check these items. If you still don't get Reverse then you might have a cut or worn seals or frictions that are no good. What is the color of the trans fluid? If clear red that's good and if dark not so good. You will most likely have to find a good trans shop. Was this all of the sudden or gradual? The trans guy I use has told me if backing up heavy trailer up hill, does have a tendence to heat up Reverse. Causing it to slip the frictions and then, no go.

700r NEW ANSWER: Above answer is wrong. if it is 1/2 ton then it has the 350 turbo in it. The 3/4 tons used the 400 turbo in them.
the raptor 700r goes 75 to 80 mph.
You will have to get a new intake manifold that will fit a 350 with vortec heads. For the tranny to shift correctly including going into overdrive there is a vacuum kit you can get, but it will only work on some overdrive trannys. A company like Summit should be able to help you with the correct answers. If you can not get a kit for your tranny then you could always locate a 700R out of a earlier model truck.
in Ebay ie really easy, you find anything you looking for Also, about the best supplier of info I've found is transtarindustries.com. If it's an automatic, it is most likely the 700r-4, which is a very good tranny. They have all the data + parts lists in pdf format for just about any tranny you can imagine.
