1998 Cadillac Deville my factory alarm does not work The doors will lock and the horn honks when you press key pad But it won't go off if the car is tampered with What do I need to check?

1.disconnect positive battery cable wait About 5 sec
2.then reconnect battery( p+cable+) car alarm will honk continuious . insert key in driver door turn right then left and repeat (R+L+R+L) to stop alarm from honking .
3.final step! ON YOUR KEYPAD AT THE SAME TIME HOLD DOWN unlock and lock wait apprx.7 sec when your car honks once and lights flash this means your keypad has been reset and will sync keypad to factory alarm.
