not to get your hopes up that this a response to your question, but im on the same boat as you...and well mines estimated to cost about 2700 bucks to fix...its the transmission and the torque converter, which is apparently an issue that the 1998 model had. i wish i knew it before buying the thing. anyways, now you know you aren't the only one out there.
A gear meshing whine in your 1996 Oldsmobile can because by low transmission fluid. Check the transmission fluid and make sure it is at the full mark.
Low transmission fluid or a bearing is going out.
A worn transmission gear can cause a Chevy Impala to whine when the gears change. A bad fan belt can also cause this.
Your throw out bearing is the problem.
I should think that there is something wrong with it, You need to take it to a mechanic to investigate the problem.
Sounds like torque converter is going bad
Wheel bearing Is it worse or better when taking turns?
swine whine
If the whine happens when starting to move forwards, and then stops once the vehicle is moving, it could be caused by a loose fan belt. If so, tighten the fan belt, or replace the worn belt.
you have a problem in your torque converter or transmission pump
umm KAT DELUNA sings whine up its not whine out
whine is a type of jamacian dance
