July 16, 2009 In 1999, there were no $20 double eagle gold coins were produced by the US Mint. You may be refering to the American Gold Eagle coin. They were minted in $5, $10, $25 qnd $50 denominations. They were also minted in an Uncirculated coin and a Proof coin. If what you have is the $25 American Gold Eagle, then the Uncirculated coin is valued from $480 to $570 depending upon the condition of the coin. The Proof coin is valued from $625 to $750 depending upon the condition of the coin.
The American Eagle Gold coins are made in Uncirculated and Proof versions. Circulated means exactly that, it has been circulated and or used. We do not use any gold coins at all in every day business. Proof coins have a highly reflective, mirror-like surface. The surface of a uncirculated coin does not.
It depends on the denomination (or weight ) of the coin.
The ONLY U.S. gold coins to have a $25.00 denomination are the Half-Ounce American Gold Eagle & American Buffalo gold bullion coins. All are Proof or Uncirculated . The values are different. Post new question as to type, date and mintmark.
