I had the same problem and the issue is in the trunk towards the left side by trunk lid is the wire that supplies the 12 volts to the latch solenoid.

When you get the trunk open and you look to the left of the trunk and lid area if the wire assembly looks like it is bent or twisted that is where the problem is. Sometimes the cable may not slide through the plastic guide and gets stuck, when you close the lid the cable gets twisted and eventually breaks.

The way it is designed the wire may break off inside the harness. You would have to remove the tape harness to expose the wires. You should be able to see a broken or twisted wire that would need be repaired.

NOTE!!! Cable MUST SLIDE FREELY UP AND DOWN IN PLASTIC HARNESS.
