easy, remove the large engine cover situaeted in the cab below the radio area, engine will be totally exposed, map sensor on rear off engine to rear of manifold opposite side to driver, jlwimports@yahoo.co.uk

How do you replace the climate control light bulb on a 1999 Intrepid?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A 1999 Dodge Intrepid rear turn signal bulb is replaced by removing the retaining screws and lifting the cover away. The bulb can then be twisted to remove it from the housing and a new bulb put in its place.

Click here for details on how to get the codes if the following instructions don't work!

(1) Cycle the ignition key On - Off - On - Off - On within 5 seconds.

(2) The Odometer will show the P-code.

(3) If no DTC's are present, the cluster will display one of two texts: "P1684" and "done" or only "done." P1684 indicates that the memory has been cleared within the last 50 ignition cycles and does not indicate a problem. Done indicates that NO DTCs are present.

Ho2S = heated oxyen sensor, TP = throttle position, MAF = mass airflow, MAP = manifold absolute pressure, TC=turbocharger.

Some codes might not be used by Chrysler, or might only be used by some later Chrysler models (e.g. Charger). These will be italicized.

  • P1740 Torque Reduction Signal Circuit: Overdrive and TCC Solenoid Rationality
    • Al Steier wrote that P1740 is a Chrysler-only code, so the description is not always SAE approved. On RE transmissions, which don't have much in the way of electronics, the computer was looking for a drop in engine speed after the overdrive solenoid or torque converter clutch were applied; since lockup comes in fourth gear, it doesn't know whether the rpm drop is due to moving to overdrive or locking the torque converter. If a truck shows P1740 is probably has one of two problems: a bad overdrive or torque converter solenoid, or bad torque converter material so that the torque converter clutch cannot hold lockup.

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

you should have a tensioner assembly you can loosen up to get the belt off easier, and to slip the new one on. there should also be a schematic on the frame of your truck right where you lift the hood from. this will tell you the proper route to take with your new belt ;)

Replace oil dipstick tube?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

DEPENDS ON THE MAKE AND MOTOR BUT MOST ARE A PRESS FIT INTO THE BLOCK WITH A RUBBER O RING AT THE BOTTEM. GOOD LUCK

There should be a fastner that secures the tube assembly near the top of the engine. after this is removed you should be able to just pull the tube right out of engine, you may find it comes out better if you twist it while pulling.

Where is the starter on a 1994 Dodge Intrepid ES 3.5L?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Although a car starter is a great concept, I definitely would not install it in a 1999 Intrepid. I have a 99 Intrepid, and have heard that that year was the worst for the Intrepid. I have had nothing but problems with my car, and have spoken to others with the same model and year as mine. A car starter can totally screw up the mechanics of a car, especially one with such a bad rep. Another thing is that if you need a starter, I would probably get a professional to do it. They might offer you some kind of a warranty.

Why does the light socket smoke or pop when the switch is turned on?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It's not suppose to sizzle, you need a new light switch! It might start a fire!!

When a switch makes a noise when turned on, this would indicate a quite worn switch or a switch that is not connected properly.

The audible noise is made from electricity jumping over a small gap.

This jumping does unfortunately create heat and might in worst case cause a fire.

It might be easy enough as just tighten a few screws in order to correct this.

What is the refrigerant capacity of a 1999 Dodge Intrepid?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There is a label under the hood with the capacity. Today's air conditioning has to be exact. That means you will have to know how much refrigerant is in the system. Otherwise you will not know how much to add. It is best to have this done by a qualified repair shop that has the proper equipment.

How do you replace a timing belt on a 2 point 2 liter Dodge 94 Shadow?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If you have never done it, I suggest taking it to someone. However, if you have the tools and want to do it yourself. You will need to jack up the car first. Remove right front wheel. This is so you can get to all bolts on the front plastic cover. Remove the bolts, remove the cover/covers if 2 piece. Losen the timing belt tensioner, move away, take off belt, replace, tighten pretty tight with hand. Make sure no slack is present! But not extremely too tight. Retighten all bolts and covers and install wheel. NOTE: If timing belt was broken this is a whole different story. Do not try..Unless you know how..

How do you disable the factory alarm on a 1995 Honda Passport that keeps it from starting?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

what we do is disconnect the positive battery line. leave it off for a few seconds, then reconnect it . that normally stops the funkyness. if it acts like ours did, its because it needs a new battery, they lights flickered and beaped and the locks locked all by themselves. it was weird! try a new battery first, if not, call your local Honda dealer, mine is really helpful and helps me over the phone with everything!

-------------------------

(Another contributor)

Situation: It was Sunday night and I had disconnected my '95 Passport battery terminals to clean them. Totally routine, right?? Surprise!! After re-connecting them, the alarm was periodically flashing the parking and dash lights and beeping, and prevented starter operation. No friendly dealer was available... After many phone calls - even to quite knowledgeable people - no help. Owner's manual - cover-to-cover - no help, of course!

Answer: Finally called AAA. When a wrecker driver arrived, he said the battery was weak, but I knew better. After convincing him, he said "o.k." and showed me a little, black button on the driver's side, mounted on the plastic housing near the heater discharge for the driver's feet.

Procedure: He turned the ignition on, pushed the button, and turned the key off. Repeated the procedure twice more. Engine then cranked! Hellohh!!! Why on earth would any alarm manufacturer put innocent, unknowing people into such a predicament?? I can envision an even dangerous situation arising from such a foolish design! Sure hope this may yet help another owner.
