1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. When you lift the hood and are facing the front of the engine, the number one cylinder is the closest one to you on your right hand side. The next one back is 3, then 5, then 7. On the left hand side the closest one is cylinder number 2, then 4, then 6, then 8.

This applies to nearly all Chevrolet V8 engines. The only exceptions that I am aware of are race applications that use a special camshaft that changes the firing order to 1-8-4-3-6-5-2-7. This stops 5 and 7 from firing sequentially in an attempt to elimanate the hot spot created by having adjacent cylinders firing back to back.
