On a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer : The " check gage " light comes on if the engine coolant temperature is too high , the engine oil pressure is too low , or the gas gauge is at or near empty
The check " gage " light on in your 1997 Mercury Mountaineer indicates that either your engine oil pressure is LOW , your engine temperature is HIGH or your gas tank is AT OR NEAR EMPTY .
I believe so , it has the same firing order as the High Output
High pressure line gets very hot.
On my Chevy truck it idles high when its low on antifreeze but if its not that more than likely its usually a vacuum line loose or cracked. good luck.
vacuum leak
see previous answers, but if it idles high it might be the Mass Airflow Sensor. if your car idles too high for too long and you keep driving it, you could burn out the transmission module (very expensive )
Year? Replace ECTS and clean the throttle body
throttle posistion sensor or vacuum leak
zyou tps might be bad
you might have pulled a vacuum hose off
More than likely your problem is the throttle body. More than likely your problem is the throttle body.
