Check bulbs?
if the tail lights work but not brake lights then its most likely just a blown fuse or it could be the switch at the top of your brake pedal arm.
Brake lights indicate when a vehicle is about to stop. When brake lights stop working it is important to check the wiring, the fuse, and the light itself. It could be that any of those need to be replaced.
check the brake light switch that is on top of your brake pedal under the dash, could be out of adjustment or bad.
I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500HD ext cab 4x4 long box. My brake lights work on the truck but they do not work on the right side of the trailer plug on the truck. I have checked the wiring and plug from the plug to the gas tank and I could not find a problem. Do you have a suggestion on where or what to look at next?
It could be something as simple as a fuse, or bulbs, or it could be that something has ethier shorted out you wireing, or something has cut it, you might want to check with you local mechanic, or Chevy dealier.Answerrelay fuse under hood was culprit still only have right brake light
The brake light switch is bad, look on top of the brake pedal under the dash and you will see the switch, replace it and you will have brake lights.
I found this on my 1997 Silverado and found the connection from the wiring harness to the back OS the switch itself was loose, I could wigle it arouns and make the lights come back on.
its probably not a fuse at all, but it could be your brake light switch. its under the dash hooked to the pedal. I had to replace one on my 84 t-bird
It depends on the exact problem. If it's that both brake lights in the back do not work and the middle one works, it could be your turn signal switch.
In the 1993 Chevy Caprice there is a brake sender located inside the steering column where the brake pedal is attached. Perhaps the brake lights are not working because of this, when a person hits the brakes. There could also be a fuse blown or a broken or shorted wire.
So you're saying that you have a 3rd brake light but nothing at the lower brake lights, and only one of the turn signals work. If that's the case, it's probably the brake light switch in the steering column. Don't touch it!!! The air bag is in the steering wheel, and if you make a mistake and it goes off, it could be very harmful or even fatal. Take it to someone who has experience and training.
TRY TURNING THE EMERGENCY FLASHERS ON AND OFF A COUPLE TIMES THEN CHECK YOUR BRAKE LIGHTS. WORKED FOR ME.
