You need to have the OBD II trouble codes read. Some Parts stores will do this for free. They will give you a Letter and number series (usually a P (sometimes B, C, or U)). Example: they may pull a P0300, P0173, and P1173. Each code will give you a general idea of what system is malfunctioning. There is no "quick fix" . A diagnostic scanner cannot tell you exactly what the problem is.
