Technically, there is no such thing as a "Secretary of the Armed Forces of the Philippines." The title Secretary in correlation to the Armed Forces of the Philippines is for the line agency Department of National Defense, an executive branch office under the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines. The over-all head of the Armed Forces of the Philippines is the President, referred to as the Commander-in-Chief. Policy related matters concerning the defense of the republic is under the Secretary of National Defense and under his (her) office is a bureau level, Armed Forces of the Philippines headed by a Chief-of-Staff. As of December 2, 2010 - the Philippines' Secretary of National Defense is Voltaire T. Gazmin.
