you would use the safety flame when not heating anything because the blue flame is for heating because its hotter than yellow.
The blue flame is really hotter than the yellow flame. If you put your hand over a blue flame and skim through it, it would burn you but if you put it over a yellow flame it wouldn't burn you that much.
* Yellow safety flame - Safe becasue you can see it easily and know it is there. Not used for heating because it creates soot. * Silent blue flame - Used to for gental heating and is silent and not very visible. * Roaring blue flame - Strongest heating setting and is made of two cones. The outside cone is the flame and it is blue , the inside cone is unburned gas that is purple.
Most things in chemistry.. Usually you would use a blue Bunsen flame (half open at the bottom) for heating almost everything. The yellow flame is only a safety flame, as you can't see a blue one all that well, and it's not used for heating because it produces soot

The yellow flame because that is the safety flame
A blue flame is neither too hot or too cold as somebody else has said. But the gentle blue flame is good for heating something up with a temperature that is between the yellow safety flame and the roaring blue flame.

It can't burn you, it's a safety flame. The blue flame is the real hazard. It is 1800 degrees so do not touch it. Apart from that there is nothing to worry about. P.S. Don't forget to wear safety goggles when doing any chemistry or heating! I hope I helped :)

A Safety Flame Is The Yellowy Orange Flame. It Is Called A Safety Flame Because You Can See It Unlike The Blue Flame
There is no such thing as a safety flame.

There are three: Safety flame: The hole is closed. Orange flame. Not too hot, Blue flame: Hole half open. Almost invisible. Hot. Used for heating liquids, Roaring blue flame: Hole open. Very hot blue part inside lighter coloured part. Used for heating solids.
