...but that's just "at this writing." The value of any country's currency fluctuates every minute of every day. Tomorrow, $500(USD) might equal £314(GBP), more or less. If there's some big financial crises in either country -- or sometimes even in some other country which you might think shouldn't have anything to do with it -- the difference could be far greater. It all just depends on how things are going, in terms of international trade and the relative values of international currencies, on any given day.
