In the 70s gay men most often gathered at gay bars.
This pattern of bars is called a barcode (or bar code). It found explosive application in the 70s as manufacturers and marketers employed the technology to automate inventory and checkout.

You mean just sitting in the house? I've noticed that when the temperature in the house gets to be in the upper '70s, the chocolate in the snack bowl (normal snack-type chocolate, like Hershey's nuggets) gets soft and bend-y. Not hot enough to stick to the wrapping or fingers, but ver-r-r-r-y close. When the indoor temperature is in the low '70s, the chocolate is normal consistency. I always wondered why a 7-degree difference could cause that much of a change.

You can refer to a person in their 70s as a septuagenarian.
That is totally up to the bar and the bar owner. A common practice in dive bars on the east coast. I bartended in NY in the 70s and most of the neighborhood bars honored the practice. The last shot in the bottle was commonly called "the spider", as the last shot had the appearance of a spider web as it dribbled from the bottle.
