All lead/acid batteries will loose charge if stored unused for a long period but if the battery is losing charge rapidly, first check that there is actually power leaving the battery and that the battery cable connections re good. It may just be an old done battery. Then check that the battery is being charged properly by the alternator. If light dim significantly when the car reduces to an idle, there may be a charging problem. Next check that there are no switches stuck on, e.g. a boot light not going out.

Then check that there are no faults in alarm systems or other permanently on items.
