If that's going on there is some kind of malfunction somewhere. Check for a dirty air filter, sticking TBI injector, faulty throttle position sensor or possibly some other sensor failure. New answer; Need to check the fuel pressure regurlator.
A shorted or grounded Coolant sensor can cause it to run rich.

No it will not. Now it will bolt right in there but the transmission will not work and the fuel pump in the fuel tank has to much fuel pressure for a carburetor
