Check the vacuum hoses for leaks or cracks to start. Make sure that the throttle return is allowing the throttle cable to return back to the "rest" position.
It could be a dirty air filter or a dirty throttle body.

I have a 1988 ford ranger 2.9L V6. the speedo stops at 85 but ive had it pegged all the way to the bottom. Judging by the distances between the speeds on the gauge i would say it was about 104 or 105 mph.
your car idles low because it is hard for the engine to run fast. which sounds more comfortable, 1200 RPM, or 8000 RPM? the car isn't moving, and as such it doesn't need the engine to run fast to propel it, so the engine doesn't turn fast.
check for unhooked vacuum lines
It goes real fast I have no problems with it it is very fast it does 61
Need to know year and type of car including what motor please.
it idles quickly to save as much fuel, energy, oil, etc. as possible
Very Fast they train as the strongest teams in the known and unknown universe
it will do 100km/hr easy
180 mph
The 1988 pajero is set to idle fast at start up until the engine has warmed up. Then the idle should drop within 800 RPM range.
