If mot turning over, I would check the starter wiring in the area of the pan to make sure nothing got damaged. If turning over a not firing, I would check the distributor for damage from lifting the engine. Nothing on the oil pan has any thing to do with starting, the engine will be able to start even without one , but will not last long.
