fuel pump
The MOST COMMON PROBLEM with that engine is that the intake manifold gasket BLOWS / LEAKS water into the engine crankcase and mixes with the oil. Replace the intake gasket and FLUSH The engine oil and change the oil filter SEVERAL TIMES Untill engine cleans up.
On top of the intake manifold beneath the air filter
An air intake filter is what blocks dust particles from entering into you engine. It is an air purifier which cleans the air your engine takes in.
There's 2 of them on that engine, And there underneith the INTAKE MANIFOLD. You must remove the intake to get to them.
The IAT sensor is built into the MAF sensor and tht is mounted in the air intake hose that comes out of the air filter box and goes to the engine throttle body housing. If you look at the air filter box you will see a electrical device in the intake hose right where it hooks to the air filter box. That is the MAF sensor.
intake air filter for the motor is in the intake filter housing, passenger side of the engine bay, has hook clips you need to release to get to the filter element
25 to30 foot pounds
The fuel filter is on the passenger side of the engine under the intake
Read closely. The air filter houseing sets on top of the thing that looks like a carburetor / Throttle body injection houseing. And that is bolted to the INTAKE MANIFOLD with 3 bolts. The intake is the BIG item that is bolted on the center of the engine between the valve covers. I hope you understand now.
That is a very common problem with the Vortec engines. You must REPLACE the Intake gasket and then change the oil and filter a few times in a roll after letting the engine run a few minutes each time until you get the engine oil to clean up.
Connects air filter and engine.
The intake gasket is the gasket that conncects from your air filter into your intake manifold
