Most likely a Christian or a Catholic or a Buddhist or a whatever religion the person has chosed for himself. If he decides not to practice a religion or believe in a God or after life or anything else besides the material existence he is an agnostic.

Generally speaking, someone who converts to Judaism is a Jew with all the same privileges and responsibilities that Jews who are born Jewish have. The Hebrew noun for convert is 'ger', which comes from the verb for "to live among." The Hebrew word for conversion is 'gerut.'

According to the Talmud, Jews are forbidden from reminding a convert that he was once not a Jew. Therefore, Jews will not typically refer to you as "the convert." Some individual Jews may hold prejudices against converts to Judaism, but Jewish law forbids such attitudes.

There are a few exceptions to the general rule that a convert is a Jew for all intents and purposes: for instance, a first-generation convert may not marry a kohen (this applies only to the convert, and not to his or her children, as the children are not born with convert status). There is nothing to stop a convert from becoming a rabbi or a hazzan, or fulfilling any other role open to other Jews.
