Is an electric current the movement of negative charges called electrons?

The force moving electrons in electricity is called resistance. The electrons move toward a path of least resistance. The current is the actual movement of the electrons in a specific direction.

What happen to the resistance of metallic wire if it is heatedExplain?

Its resistance increases. This is because of vibrations of the core of atoms and so they have got good influence over the movement of electrons. So conductivity gets reduced and so resistance increases. This is what we call positive temperature coefficient

What is the relationship between air resistance and movement?

air resistance is cooler

How is the movement of electrons in a conductor related to the formation of magnetic field?

how is the movement of electrons in a conductor related to the formation of a magnetic field

Why do materials have electric resistance?

Covalent bonds, free electrons, etc. Materials with strong covalent bonds do not readily share electrons and thus have very little electron movement or resistance. We need, to our understanding, electron movement in order to conduct electricity effectively at normal temperatures. We aren't talking superconductors here. Free electrons in a material such as copper allow a low resistance to electrical flow. There is also a consideration as to the number of shells of an element and the resultant attraction between the nucleus and the electrons in the outer shell, i.e., the more electrons an element has the more shells and the further away those free electrons are from the nucleus. Copper and iron have four shells with one electron in the outer shell...good. Silver has five shells with one electron in the outer shell...better. Gold and platinum have six shells with one electron in the outer shell...best. Tungsten has six shells, two electrons in the outershell...notable resistance. Lead has six shells, but four electrons in the outer shell...getting more resistive. There are many other examples for each type of metal.

What circuit property holds back the movement of electrons?

That would be resistance.

Does resistance flow through a circuit?

No. Resistance does not flow. Resistance is the characteristic of a material that resists the movement of electrons and thus the flow of electrical current.

What is the ability of a material to oppose the movement of electrons through it?

A material that has a high resistance to the flow of electrons is an insulator.

What specifically does resistance reduce the flow of?

Resistance is the opposition of the atoms in any materiel to the movement of the electrons of a certain current ... so the resistance is a long wire, and thus more atoms to pass through that's how it reduces the electron flow
