No, the spinal cord is not a nerve. It is a bundle of nerves that runs down the back and is part of the central nervous system.
On the motor, the cable attaches to the butterfly that control air intake. Right behind that down the cable it should attach to a braket that the cable runs thru. A nut that the cable runs thru. Follow the cable to the firewall and then to the gas pedal. It's just a matter of doing it. It may be a pain getting to the pedal end, but it can be done.
