He was saying that if you put your faith in Him, repenting of your sins, you will receive eternal life. After you physically die, you will not go to Hell, which is the second death. Death means separation from God. Accepting Christ means never going to Hell, which is what He meant.

An explanation and discussion of Jesus claim that if you believe in him you will never die?

One of the key claims made by Jesus in the Bible is that if you believe in him, you will never truly die. This statement is a powerful and central part of Christian theology and has been debated and analyzed by scholars, theologians, and believers for centuries. On the surface level, this can be interpreted as a promise of eternal life for those who believe in Jesus. However, many scholars argue that the meaning behind this statement is more nuanced and complex than just the promise of eternal life. One interpretation is that Jesus is not necessarily promising physical immortality, but rather, spiritual life beyond physical death. This would mean that while physical death is inevitable, those who believe in Jesus will continue to live on in a spiritual sense, in the presence of God. Another interpretation is that Jesus is speaking to the idea of spiritual death, rather than physical death. Ultimately, the meaning behind Jesus' claim that if you believe in him, you will never die is complex and multifaceted.
