It has a Mayor-council government
The city of Fresno has a mayor-council form of government. It follows a strong mayor system, where the mayor is the chief executive of the city and holds significant authority. The city council acts as the legislative body, making decisions on local ordinances and policies.
Salem's form of government is known as a Plan B Government. It provides for a Mayor, and a City Council of eleven members.
The president is the chief executive officer of the country. The mayor may be the chief executive office of his city or town, depending on how the local government is set up. ( The mayor may also be the leader of the city council which would be the legislative body of the city, with a city manager hired to run the city. In this case, his office would not be much like the president's office. The president puts a face on the government and can speak as something of a voice of the country; the major can do the same kind of thing for his city or town.
crackers, cheese, grapes, etc...
The mayor of Chicago has many responsibilities and duties, and, because I'm working on a homework project about it, I don't have way too much time to go into all of the details. Here are at least 10 taken from the municipal code. Look it up for more, though it is kind of hard to understand. The mayor is to appoint the officials in most offices, although doesn't have the power to appoint the city clerk, city treasurer, or the city attorney, as those are elected by popular votes. The mayor supervises all city officials, and if there is a complaint, the mayor acts and deals with the violator according to what the law demands, sometimes punishing said person. Can enforce or designate someone to enforce any ordinance in the city. The mayors signature must be on all licenses and permits granted by the city council. The mayor can appoint a secretary to keep official documents and files, etc.For the benefit of the city, the mayor is able and required to create a contract for the buying/releasing of personal property. The mayor can release or discharge a person for breaking the Municipal code. The mayor has the power/authority to display city flags on, in, and at all city buildings. The mayor is to issue a proclamation of observance for Flag Day every year before June 10.The mayor is the official coordinator of emergency activities. He/she is to make sure police officers and firemen are trained and ready for any attacks or natural disasters that might occur.Again, check out the Municipal code. That's where I found just about all of these.Hope this helps!
