For wireless communication of data there are uses of modulation.

AM (Amplitude Modulation): means altering the length of amplitude (crest and trough)

FM (Frequency Modulation): means altering the length of frequency (i.e. varying the wavelength)

FM is considerably preferable to that with AM because of its long range, low power consumption, and versatile tuning.

The carrier wave is the elecronic signal they broadcast. The carrier wave on its own

has no information. The radio station adds information to it by varying its amplitude.

Wavelength = [ speed of light (and radio) ] divided by (frequency) Wavelength = (299,792,458 meters / sec) / (825,000 Hz) = 363.38 meters (rounded) By the way ... The commercial AM band in the US is channelized in 10 KHz increments. If you find a station with their carrier centered at 825 KHz, then the station has a serious problem. They could be licensed at 820 or 830 ... or another multiple of 10 ... but not at 825.
