I have the same thing and my docter told me that they were two different inhalers and can be used together.
Asthma inhalers are only available with a doctor's prescription. After getting a prescription, you should be able to take it to any drug store or pharmacy to get the right inhaler.
No, Proventil (albuterol) inhalers do not have steroids. It is considered a "fast acting" or "rescue" inhaler. Albuterol is a bronchodilator, it helps open up the air passages, making it easier to breathe.
Albuterol
An inhaler that has a specific fast acting medication in it, usually Albuterol. It works quickly when you have sudden symptoms, which is why they call it a "rescue" inhaler. Other Asthma meds or COPD meds like an inhaler that has a steroid, like Advair, are more maintainence inhalers and would not be used to relieve sudden symptoms.
The propellant for inhalers is changing and the old CFC propellant ones cannot be sold after December 31, 2008. Probably you will still be taking the same drug, just the delivery system will change. The jury is still out on pros and cons of albuterol during pregnancy.
If you are allergic to sulfa in some antibiotics, it's also important to know whether your asthma inhaler contains sulfa. Sulfa is NOT in all asthma inhalers. You can identify which inhalers have sulfa by looking at the ingredient leaflet for sulfate or any phrase using that word. Albuterol is one inhaler that contains sulfate. Make sure your physicians and pharmacist know you are allergic to drugs containing sulfa or sulfates.
It doesn't.
I can only suggest asking your doctor or finding out from the people who make the inhaler.
An inhaler is something that people have if they have an asthma atack.
narcotic inhalers
I'm about a Ventolin inhaler but in an Albuterol inhaler the only things in it are Ventolin ethanol and oliec acid
