It's called a pulsar.

However - ALL young neutron stars emit the said beam. It's only if that beam is detectable on Earth is it called a pulsar.

So a Neutron Star and a Pulsar are the same thing.

See related questions.

but then again they are different.

All young neutron stars spin rapidly and will emit light because they are very hot.

How does uv light work in counterfeit detection?

It is simple really, i am studying this at the moment and the uv light can identfy water marks such as the queens head and the watermark at the top of a bank note. . . it emits 345 nanometres of light.

An excited atom decays to it's ground state and emits a proton of green light if instead the atom decays to an intermediate state what could the light emitted be?

If an atom that emits a green proton when it decays to its ground state decays to an intermediate state instead it will emit a proton that is yellow/orange/red. The reason is that it will be a lower energy proton emitted and lower energy waves correspond to longer wavelengths like the ones that make up these colors.

What are three types of light sources that are artificial and explain briefly how each works?

Incandescent electric light - electricity heats a filament of tungsten to white hot, at which temperature it emits photons - light.LED - is a semiconductor light source which works by allowing electrons to recombine with electron holes within the device, releasing energy in the form of photons.Synchrotron radiation - electromagnetic radiation emitted when the charged particles are accelerated radiallyLaser - is a device that emits light through a process of optical amplification based on the stimulated emission of photons.Fluorescent lamp - electricity is used to excite mercury vapour which emits invisible, short-wave ultraviolet light. This then causes a phosphor coating on the bulb glass to glow, producing visible light.

How are rotating neutron stars able to produce pulses of radiation as seen by an observer on Earth?

Neutron stars are able to produce pulses of radiation because they are rotating, and only a certain place on the neutron star releases the radiation(just like how light comes out of a flashlight). As the neutron star rotates, the point on the neutron star also moves along. When it points toward the Earth, we see the pulse.
